Lets look at a few ways you can help dogs who need rescue and make the biggest impact.

We have all seen the commercials and we all know there are plenty of dogs out in the world just waiting for us to come and help. So why haven’t we done anything yet? Maybe all we need is this helpful guide to make it so easy to help almost everyone will do it.

How Much Help Is Needed

According to The Zebra.com, which quoted the ASPCA, Every year, 3.3 million dogs enter shelters and 670,000 are euthanized. So the problem is still quite large. It is like we need to build a large farm these dogs can go to a live out the rest of their days free on the range. That would be a pretty big farm though.

As you can see the problem is large and there is plenty for you to do. What can you do?

Option 1: Adopt a Dog

Go to your local shelter and adopt a dog. There are plenty to choose from and you can find the right dog for you. Of course the big issue is there is only one of you and 670,000 dogs needing homes so this can only go so far.

The ASPCA has some great tips for those looking to adopt. If you are looking to make a big impact right now this is your best bet.

Option 2: Foster Dogs

If you want to go above and beyond just adopting a dog you can become a dog foster. When you foster dogs you take in multiple dogs from a local shelter or other group. You take care of the dogs and make sure they are in good health. You then take the dogs to different adoption events or use other methods to try and find homes for the dogs.

Depending on what area you live in you should be able to find a group with a foster dogs program. For example in Texas they have the Texas Human Hero’s and you can apply to be a foster right on their website.

Option 3: Donate or Fundraise

There are already a lot of people and groups working hard to support dogs in need. They can use all the help they can get so if you have the ability to donate resources or pool together resources through a fundraiser this can make a big impact.

You can donate supplies to your local shelter. Before doing so it may be a good idea to call ahead and see what exactly they need. Homeless people often have dogs as well so donating dog food to the local shelter may also help.

There is always the option of running an online fundraiser. Using things like Facebook you can setup to raise money for your favorite local dog supporting charity. If you sell any type of product you can always run some kind of promotion where a percentage of the proceed will be donated to a specific charity.
